ABINGDON REALTOR UNVEILS MURAL
A prominent realtor recently commissioned North Carolina Artist Walt Wright from Hamptonville to paint an outdoor mural at his lakeside home in Abingdon, Virginia. The completed work was unveiled Sunday to friends and neighbors. This is the third public mural created by Walt Wright. Mr. Ken Epling commissioned Mr. Wright some time before the Virginia Highlands Festival and the artist began right away on the project. The image Mr. Epling had painted was of a Cherokee Indian Nation symbol. He explained that it represents the bear clan, which once occupied that region of Virginia. He hopes the symbol will remind people to keep the land and water clean as the Native Americans once did. This unique mural faces the lake and is viewable only to boat traffic on the upper end of South Holston Lake.
